Testimonial

“I have bread and trained NAVHDA Versatile Champion Small (kleine) Munsterlander hunting dogs for 21 years. The breed is known as ‘Versatile,’ for the quality of their retrieving, pointing, and tracking skills in field, water and forest, and with a variety of fur and feathered species, large and small. My work is complex and demanding. There’s a lot to digest. Jay is a listener. He quickly produced great photos of my dogs in the field, in a variety of different conditions and environments.”

“This occurred as my website was upgraded and needed images that conveyed the quality of my dogs’ natural ability and training. Jay’s photos were the missing link in the effort to upgrade my website. He knew exactly what I was looking for when I asked about digital slide carousels. My whole website took on a new look as my dogs’ work was vividly illustrated. Jay’s photos and carousels also triggered interest on my Facebook and YouTube pages.”

“Uninformed prospective buyers quickly became informed, gravitating to the idea of owning and training a ‘versatile’ hunting dog pup. On the other side, informed buyers saw great work being demonstrated and gravitated to my dogs’ higher level of natural ability. In addition, NAVHDA Small Munsterlander breeders and trainers saw that Fall Brook Run had what they wanted most.”

“The end result was that both sides wanted to own our Small Munsterlander pups and started pups. Yes, thanks to Jay a whole new area of the business opened up and soon enough I was training a started pup to informed owner that I sold at 8 months of age rather than selling a pup at the age of 8 or 9 weeks. In the end, Jay’s work is indispensable in conveying precisely what Fall Brook Run stands for: Excellence in Field, Water and Forest.”

Fidus means trustworthy, loyal and steadfast.

I started taking photographs at the age of eleven, and never stopped. My love of photography took me from pastime, to art galleries and commercial work, to graduate school, and work as a museum curator. More recently, I’ve been an entrepreneur starting or helping to build a number of branding, marketing and digital services businesses. Put all that together and here’s what you can expect:

★ More relational, less transactional ~ I’m not in it to punch a ticket. I’m in it to capture meaningful moments between animals and their humans and make beautiful images that delight my clients.

★ Accomplished, professional service ~ Simple. With a long career in photography, culture and business, I apply my knowledge and experience across disciplines to meet my clients’ expectations.

★ Act with integrity, take ownership ~ Being honest, organized and forthright makes being accountable easy. Do it right, and everyone goes home happy.

★ Personalized service, exceed expectations ~ Never fails. The closer I listen to my clients, the more distinct, hit-the-nail-on-the-head outcomes are delivered.

☞ Oh, and I’ve cared for animals since I was 5 years’ old with my Collie, Schatzie. Since then there have been other dogs and, certainly, cats, a weekend with several hamsters, a few snakes, assorted amphibians, and a brief spell with a chicken. I’ve ridden a few horses too.

Today, I’m bound to three critters; my adopted Terrier mix, Babka, and two cats, Shrimpy and Mrs. Hudson.

“Jay created the new design I’m using for my business card and marquee logo on my website. He also suggested shooting conformation photos of my 9 H-litter pups to demonstrate thru-line continuity. These photos were used for marketing and social media, and when I asked him to design a magazine and online ad to acknowledge the new litter and announce the next one.

The design of the ad makes it clear that a litter from the same male and female would likely produce pups of similar quality in a next litter. Well, that litter is due in a month and all the pups are spoken for. I give Jay credit for this as the ad says it all. All of this worked because the quality was there in both Jay's work and the subject matter.”

How Fidus Rolls… My Project Process

Hiddre, 12-Week Conformation, Small Munsterlander Pointer, Fall Brook Run

1. Specify

The first part of my process begins with a phone call to talk about your goals. You can use the form on the Contact page here, or call (646-320-0777) or email (jay@fidufoto.com) if those are easier.

We’ll start to personalize your project by discussing the subject, target audience, media requirements, theme, style, location, timing and budget. Media options include photography (print and mounting styles), branding (logo, social media, letterhead, etc.), marketing and advertising (social media, digital, print), events (banners, print collateral).

We’ll finish by reviewing COVID-19 safety protocols to make sure everyone is informed and we’re working safe.

If you like what you hear, I’ll prepare an estimate and we’ll book your project. Confirm your reservation with a little paperwork and a $250 project initiation fee.

★ Total pricing is comprised of two components; the project fee, and a fee for your photography, brand and graphics deliverables that is based on scope of your project.

2. Execute

The rubber hits the road in the second stage of the process. First, we’ll nail down planning and deadlines. During this time we’ll also cover what to expect and how to prepare for the project. My goal is to make this a worry-free experience for you.

★ Photography sessions usually last one to three hours. On the day of the photo session we’ll spend a little time letting all participants get familiar and comfortable. Then we’ll work through our list of ‘must have’ images, and look for additional images inspired by the location and setting.

★ Brand and graphics deliverables and timelines are customized on a per project basis.

When the photo session or graphics development is complete, I’ll begin to edit everything down to a manageable set of photos or designs. Within two weeks you’ll receive a link to a private online gallery of proofs to review.

Hiddre, Point Training at 8 Months, Small Munsterlander Pointer, Fall Brook Run

3. Launch

The final stage is where everything comes together. Your online gallery is where you can review, annotate, download and share your project assets. We’ll schedule a project review after you’ve spent some time with the work.

During the review we’ll discuss the work and finalize end-use media requirements. I’ll take notes and prepare revisions or final production files. Standard practice is for two rounds of revisions.

★ Photography products can be viewed and prototyped with your chosen images in your online gallery.

★ Branding and design project proofs are provided per individual project timelines.

In most cases you can expect between 4-6 weeks from project initiation date to order delivery. I’ll ask you in advance about any expected deadlines early on and make adjustments to accelerate the process.
